So we are in Yellowstone, dropping Leah off for a week of exploring with my parents and trying to squeeze a quick vacation out of it. We were hoping to fit Yellowstone into our summer trips somewhere. So it works out well, considering my dad is a Yellowstone expert therefore an excellent tour guide. Our goal this year was to visit as many national parks as possible...unfortunately gas prices have drastically dashed our enthusiasm. But we are here and today was wonderful. I love being in the great outdoors. Is it less believable wh
en I'm at a National Park and still blogging? I hope not.
I have been to Yellowstone once before with friends but we didn't really know what we were doing. We saw some really awesome stuff today. First off the geysers are crazy. It was like walking around a different planet. It was so colorful and...stinky. Leah kept chanting, "Stinky water, stinky water, stinky water."
I think my second fav of the day was the wildlife. Today we saw a bald eagle, f
ish, elk, bears, and bison. Maybe more but that's what I remember! Leah had a good conversation with the Bison (not Buffalo because Buffalo are from Africa per my father) about how they should go take a bath. So I have in my possession an article that I plan on reading (I know this gives me less credibility) about how we now have to introduce children to nature. This is really sad. Kids have less and less desire to be in the outdoors and interact with nature. We make it a priority to get out as a family and enjoy the outdoors. Not only do I think it displays gratitude for what we have but also you get exercise, become more self-aware and have good memories as a family. I really appreciate that my parents also made this a priority. I know that not every one can make it a priority but most people can get out more than they do. What do you think? My rant is done...I'll read the article when I get home...and post soon about our day tomorrow. Goodnight.
